Runners # Image and installed tools Ubuntu 24.04 on x64. It is not a copy of GitHub’s `ubuntu-24.04` image: it carries the tools most workflows call without installing them, and `actions/setup-*` installs anything else. ## Installed | Containers | Docker Engine with Buildx and Compose v2; `services:` containers | | --- | --- | | Node.js | Node.js 22, npm, Yarn 1 | | Python | Python 3 with pip, venv, pipx and dev headers | | Build tools | build-essential, clang and lld, CMake, Ninja, autoconf, automake, libtool, bison, flex, pkg-config, ccache | | CLIs | GitHub CLI, Google Cloud CLI, PowerShell 7, Bazel (bazelisk), yq, jq, git and git-lfs | | Databases | PostgreSQL, MySQL and Redis clients, SQLite | | Utilities | curl, zip and unzip, zstd, lz4, pigz, 7-Zip, rsync, shellcheck, GNU parallel, xvfb | ## Not installed - Go, Java, Rust, Ruby and .NET: use `actions/setup-go`, `setup-java` and the like. - A browser: Playwright and Puppeteer download their own, and the libraries they need are installed. ## Access in the job Your job runs as a regular user with passwordless `sudo`, as on GitHub-hosted runners.
